Children of Trauma to Parents

We know that parenting without mistakes does not exist, but a mistake does not negate the pain that we are carrying now.

Let me tell you about who you raised and who we raised ourselves to be.

It will be hard to hear, but the feeling is even more painful for us.

  • Frightened every hour, afraid to misstep and do something wrong.
  • Frightened every evening, dreading the unpredictable events upon the return of monstrous fathers.
  • Frightened by the constant conflicts between parents.
  • Frightened by parents’ anxieties over who would dominate the other more.
  • Frightened by parents’ poor health.
  • Walking on tiptoes to achieve our parents’ well-being.
  • Filled with disgust and anger, forced to love the abusers.
  • Denied the right to both positive and negative emotions.
  • Tasked with the emotional support of the entire family.
  • Who raised their younger siblings.
  • Fighting for basic necessities while also caring for their siblings.
  • Expected to meet the family’s expectations.
  • Suffering alone and surviving hell.

Who did we raise ourselves to be?

  • With an ocean of self-reflection and empathy.
  • Capable of recognizing, naming, and controlling their emotions.
  • Diligent, persistent, and resilient.
  • Capable of boundless love for people.
  • Capable of amazing friendships.
  • Relentlessly fighting to overcome the trauma inflicted by you.
  • Capable of enduring immense pain, choosing life over suicide.
